Dr. Henriette Harnisch,
Vice Principal Business and
Partnerships, Walsall College
It is a huge honour to be leading the
Governing Body of this new and
innovative educational concept which is
already providing students with the right
platform to succeed.
Through close working with our sponsors
we are already well on the way to
providing a world-class facility which
provides an education for all, which will
create a new generation of young people
with the technical skills to enable them to
become the engineers, scientists and
designers of the future.
The UTC is positioned right in the heart of
the Black Country, the birthplace of
engineering, and is helping our young
people to meet the needs of employers in
the West Midlands and make a positive
contribution to society.
Walsall College
The Black Country UTC is an extremely
exciting opportunity for young people in
the Black Country and surrounding area.
The Black Country UTC has achieved
some fantastic results since opening in
September 2011 and we are immensely
proud of all of the students.
The grades, Apprenticeships and jobs
already achieved clearly show that a high
quality technical college offering a
speciality in engineering and science can
deliver significant benefits for students in
our region. It is also benefitting employers
and helping to fill the skills gap as an
increasing number of students leave
college with the skills and experience
which make them work-ready.
