Recycling Efforts
Global Greening
Concerns for planet earth are brought home at even
Keppel Land’s own offices. Recycling is an initiative that
is encouraged and practised with full support.
Preserving and conserving the natural habitat is also a
key responsibility that Keppel Land undertakes in each
city or country that it operates in.

The principle of ‘recycle, re-use, refill’ are brought to
bear, as staff are constantly encouraged recycle and
reuse. An average of ten cartons of old newspapers and
used papers are sold to a recycling agency each month,
and the proceeds are in turn donated to charity.
Hotel Inter-Continental Singapore has also
ceaselessly championed the cause of going green.
Its energy-saving, recycling and water conservation
programmes include using cleaning products that are
bio-degradable and environmentally sensitive, having a
linen programme which minimizes daily linen changes
and installing timer switches so that lights are turned
off when not needed. Where possible, the hotel has
switched to energy-saving fluorescent bulbs.
At the residential development named Botanic Cove
in Sydney, special care is taken to preserve the
heritage-listed trees and about 130 species of flora
through a dedicated planting programme.
In keeping with the surroundings, names of trees and
plants native to the locality such as Beechwood,
Rosewood, Sandalwood and Tulipwood are used to
name the apartment blocks.
The hotel also has an active recycling programme
which involves recycling paper, plastic, newsprint and
glass as well as placing recycling bins at all paper work
stations. At the same time, staff and personnel are
provided with training on good environment practices.
For its relentless efforts in protecting the environment,
Hotel Inter-Continental has won numerous
environmental awards since its opening in 1995.
