Better Man PROGRAM FACILITATION
BETTER MAN PROGRAM MEETING FACILITATION
USE THE FACILITATOR GUIDEBOOK
This Facilitator Guidebook is comprehensive. The Facilitator Guidebook provides you with
instructions on delivering all meetings within Founding Father Education and the Alpha, Sigma,
and Phi Phases of the Better Man Program.
ADDRESSES/PRESENTATIONS
Throughout each Phase, initiated members and guests may be asked to address the men
participating in the program. Key points to be addressed during each presentation are identified in this
guidebook. Typically an address or presentation from a guest would take place at the beginning of
a weekly meeting, but can be moved, if necessary, to later in the meeting. Make sure that your guests
are invited at least one month in advance and given advance notice of the time, location, and
key points to be covered during their presentation. The purpose of a presentation is to allow those
participating in the education program the opportunity to interact with some of the important
stakeholders of the chapter, the campus, and the National Fraternity.
DISCUSSIONS
During a meeting, discussions should take place to engage those participating on the
topics outlined in this guidebook. It will be important to prepare for these discussions properly
and to make sure they are not rushed or breezed over. These discussions are a critical component
to the success of this program and should be very interactive. The outlines provided in this
Facilitator Guidebook are brief “talking points.” The facilitators are encouraged to add additional
discussion material or questions as needed. The facilitator should work to make sure each
member is contributing to the discussion.
ACTIVITIES
During the training modules, some programming activities have been suggested. The suggested
activities are designed to drive interaction and a deeper understanding of the concepts
being presented.
HOMEWORK
Homework may be assigned at the end of each weekly meeting; this includes readings from the
to Better the Man Manual and completion of particular recruitment-themed activities. While
adding some material to the homework list may be acceptable, it is important not to over-program
those participating in the program and to make sure they have ample time for their studies, work,
athletic pursuits, family, and personal time.
