In <strong>the</strong> past <strong>Deaf</strong> people were allowed to drive but a new law effective 1 st January 2007 prohibits <strong>Deaf</strong><br />

people to obtain a driver’s licence. <strong>Deaf</strong> people can obtain a driver’s licence through <strong>the</strong> black market.<br />

<strong>Deaf</strong> people are not entitled to drive a lorry or a van.<br />

There are problems with gaining <strong>the</strong> right to drive vans privately.<br />

and funded by <strong>the</strong> Swedish Agency for International Development Cooperation (Sida) and Swedish Organisations <strong>of</strong> Disabled Persons<br />

International Aid Association (Shia).
