UN Youth Queensland State Summit 2013: Students in Years 10 to 12 are invited to this three-day residential
conference with a focus on social justice, foreign affairs, youth issues, the UN and leadership. The Summit will take
place from Friday 08 March to Sunday 10 March. Early registration is advised as places are strictly limited to 120

UQ Prerequisite amendment to the Bachelor of Applied Science (Year 11 students): Subsequent to QTAC’s
Tertiary Prerequisites 2015 being published, the University of Queensland (UQ) has added a mathematics
prerequisite for the Bachelor of Applied Science. The prerequisites for entry into this program in 2015 are now
‘English (4 SA); Mathematics A or B (4SA)’. If Year 11 students are affected by this please contact UQ Admissions
on (07) 3365 2203 to discuss alternate pathways.
Bond University Scholarship applications open 01 April 2013: Bond University will once again offer a large
number of full and part-fee scholarships to Australia’s best and brightest students. The 2013 Scholarship Program
consists of annual Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships, Corporate Scholarships and Deans’ Scholarships as well as
scholarships for Indigenous students. Applications open online from 01 April and will close on 31 July 2013. Further

Rankings of Australian Universities: Each year, the Australian Education Network publishes The Times Higher
Education World University Rankings – Australian University National Rankings. The top five ranked for 2012-2013
are the University of Melbourne, Australian National University, University of Sydney, University of Queensland,

UQ Careers that Shape the World: This event is held on Thursday 11 July 2013 at the St Lucia campus. Open to
Year 10, 11 and 12 students, this event is a great opportunity to discover the range of careers available through
study at UQ. This is the first year that the event is open to Year 10 students to assist them in their senior subject
selection and education goals. Further information will be distributed in March.
Tutors Worldwide: This organisation handles the recruitment of gap tutors for a good number of schools in the
UK. Full information regarding the recruiting program may be found at www.tutorsworldwide.org. Completed
candidate application forms and referee support forms must be at the office in New Zealand by 11 April 2013.
Interviews are held during late April, May and June 2013 and allocation of places is usually confirmed before the
end of July 2013.
The Tertiary Studies Expo (TSXPO) will be staged this year on the weekend of 20-21 July 2013 at the RNA
Showgrounds (10.00am-4.00pm). This free event offers students an unprecedented opportunity to compare
tertiary study providers and gain exposure to the vast array of course offerings available to them. This event is just
as important for students contemplating vocational education after Year 12 as those who are university bound.
The Brisbane Careers and Employment Expo will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on
24 and 25 May 2013. Entry is free and will feature more than 120 exhibitors. This event gives students the
opportunity to explore and receive information from a wide variety of career areas. Participants can enjoy a range
of interactive activities, including ‘try a trade’.
