UN Youth Queensland State Summit 2013: Students in Years 10 to 12 are invited to this three-day residential<br />
conference with a focus on social justice, foreign affairs, youth issues, <strong>the</strong> UN and leadership. The Summit will take<br />
place from Friday 08 March to Sunday 10 March. Early registration is advised as places are strictly limited to 120<br />

UQ Prerequisite amendment to <strong>the</strong> Bachelor of Applied Science (Year 11 students): Subsequent to QTAC’s<br />
Tertiary Prerequisites 2015 being published, <strong>the</strong> University of Queensland (UQ) has added a ma<strong>the</strong>matics<br />
prerequisite for <strong>the</strong> Bachelor of Applied Science. The prerequisites for entry into this program in 2015 are now<br />
‘English (4 SA); Ma<strong>the</strong>matics A or B (4SA)’. If Year 11 students are affected by this please contact UQ Admissions<br />
on (07) 3365 2203 to discuss alternate pathways.<br />
Bond University Scholarship applications open 01 April 2013: Bond University will once again offer a large<br />
number of full and part-fee scholarships to Australia’s best and brightest students. The 2013 Scholarship Program<br />
consists of annual Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships, Corporate Scholarships and Deans’ Scholarships as well as<br />
scholarships for Indigenous students. Applications open online from 01 April and will close on 31 July 2013. Fur<strong>the</strong>r<br />

Rankings of Australian Universities: Each year, <strong>the</strong> Australian Education Network publishes The Times Higher<br />
Education World University Rankings – Australian University National Rankings. The top five ranked for 2012-2013<br />
are <strong>the</strong> University of Melbourne, Australian National University, University of Sydney, University of Queensland,<br />

UQ Careers that Shape <strong>the</strong> World: This event is held on Thursday 11 July 2013 at <strong>the</strong> St Lucia campus. Open to<br />
Year 10, 11 and 12 students, this event is a great opportunity to discover <strong>the</strong> range of careers available through<br />
study at UQ. This is <strong>the</strong> first year that <strong>the</strong> event is open to Year 10 students to assist <strong>the</strong>m in <strong>the</strong>ir senior subject<br />
selection and education goals. Fur<strong>the</strong>r information will be distributed in March.<br />
Tutors Worldwide: This organisation handles <strong>the</strong> recruitment of gap tutors for a good number of schools in <strong>the</strong><br />
UK. Full information regarding <strong>the</strong> recruiting program may be found at www.tutorsworldwide.org. Completed<br />
candidate application forms and referee support forms must be at <strong>the</strong> office in New Zealand by 11 April 2013.<br />
Interviews are held during late April, May and June 2013 and allocation of places is usually confirmed before <strong>the</strong><br />
end of July 2013.<br />
The Tertiary Studies Expo (TSXPO) will be staged this year on <strong>the</strong> weekend of 20-21 July 2013 at <strong>the</strong> RNA<br />
Showgrounds (10.00am-4.00pm). This free event offers students an unprecedented opportunity to compare<br />
tertiary study providers and gain exposure to <strong>the</strong> vast array of course offerings available to <strong>the</strong>m. This event is just<br />
as important for students contemplating vocational education after Year 12 as those who are university bound.<br />
The Brisbane Careers and Employment Expo will be held at <strong>the</strong> Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on<br />
24 and 25 May 2013. Entry is free and will feature more than 120 exhibitors. This event gives students <strong>the</strong><br />
opportunity to explore and receive information from a wide variety of career areas. Participants can enjoy a range<br />
of interactive activities, including ‘try a trade’.<br />
