We would like to take this opportunity to welcome back our existing volunteers and welcome all <strong>the</strong> new volunteers<br />
who have joined our teams this year. We thank all of you for your time and commitment in helping prepare and<br />
deliver food for our School community. We rely heavily on our volunteers to help our daily routine run smoothly and<br />
we literally couldn't do it without you!<br />
SOMERFARE SMART CHOICES MENU TERM 1<br />
We offer light breakfast, morning tea and lunch. In compliance with Queensland Smart Choices, we continue to<br />
offer healthy fresh foods including fresh sandwiches, salads and wraps, fruit and yoghurt. Some of our hot food<br />
items include homemade pastas, fried rice, Moroccan couscous and nachos. We offer vegetarian and gluten-free<br />
options also. You will notice a few new additions this term such as junior-serve salads and meal deals.<br />
SOMERFARE SPECIALS<br />
We still offer <strong>the</strong> ever popular:<br />
- sushi on Mondays and Fridays<br />
- Vietnamese rolls on Fridays<br />
- Tuesday toasties<br />
Our new homemade specials for this term are:<br />
- new-look Nachos on Wednesdays<br />
- Moroccan couscous on Thursdays.<br />
We do change <strong>the</strong> menu from time to time so keep an eye out in <strong>the</strong> Newsletter and on Flexischools for new items.<br />

ONLINE ORDERING WITH FLEXISCHOOLS<br />
If you haven't already done so, it is not too late to register with FLEXISCHOOLS to access our ONLINE<br />
ORDERING system – it is very straightforward and will only take a few minutes. All our menu items are on <strong>the</strong>re -<br />
with <strong>the</strong> Smart Choices indicators - and you can even order in advance or place a standing order for <strong>the</strong> term. It is<br />
a more efficient system for everyone and is quick and easy to use. Take <strong>the</strong> worry out of writing a bag and finding<br />
<strong>the</strong> right change and go online! Note that orders must be placed before 8.30am. For more information please go to<br />

It is still okay to place a paper bag order over <strong>the</strong> counter – orders for morning tea must be in before school and<br />
lunch can be before school or at morning tea time. Please remember to write student name, class and lunch or<br />
morning tea on <strong>the</strong> paper bag.<br />
Please note that Somerfare does not offer IOUs so please ensure students have money when purchasing over <strong>the</strong><br />
counter or when placing an order over <strong>the</strong> counter. Thank you.<br />
JUNIOR SCHOOL SOMERFARE TUCKSHOP RULES<br />
Just a reminder that Junior School Students (Years Prep to 6) are NOT permitted at Somerfare at morning tea or<br />
before 8.00am. They are permitted ONLY after <strong>the</strong> second bell at lunch time. Junior School students must<br />
purchase <strong>the</strong>ir morning tea and lunch by placing an order. Remember, ordering online is easy and can be done<br />
well in advance. Paper bag orders can be handed in over <strong>the</strong> counter before school or placed in <strong>the</strong> box at <strong>the</strong><br />
Junior School Reception before 8.45am.<br />
The filled orders <strong>the</strong>n go into designated Tuckshop Class boxes which are collected by Tuckshop Monitors from<br />
each class just before <strong>the</strong> service of morning tea and lunch. If a student cannot find her order, <strong>the</strong>n she must see<br />
her teacher or <strong>the</strong> teachers on duty before coming down to <strong>the</strong> Tuckshop to enquire.<br />

SUPPORT GROUPS – many of our co-curricular activities rely on <strong>the</strong> support of <strong>the</strong> parent body to enhance <strong>the</strong><br />
programs we can offer <strong>the</strong> students. Please look out for notices re Support Group meetings in this publication. The<br />
details (dates, venues etc) of Support Group meetings are sent to registered parents from <strong>the</strong> Support Groups<br />
secretaries and <strong>the</strong>y are also listed in <strong>the</strong> School calendar (please see Parent Lounge for up-to-date information).<br />
ALL parents are welcome to attend to hear more about <strong>the</strong> activity that <strong>the</strong>ir daughter is involved in and to find<br />
ways that <strong>the</strong>y can help and support.<br />
