During her address Mrs Kearney detailed<br />

elements of <strong>the</strong> School’s Strategic Intent and<br />

2013 projects to be undertaken as part of <strong>the</strong><br />

School’s Master Plan (A 2020 Vision) which will<br />

systematically rebuild parts of <strong>the</strong> school,<br />

construct new buildings and refurbish existing<br />

spaces to provide world class facilities and<br />

resources for our students today and in <strong>the</strong><br />

future.<br />

Guests also heard from <strong>the</strong> Presidents of <strong>the</strong><br />

P&F, <strong>the</strong> Foundation and <strong>the</strong> Old Girls’<br />

Association regarding ways parents can<br />

become involved in <strong>the</strong>ir daughter’s lives and<br />

opportunities for engagement with our school community, including support groups and school events including <strong>the</strong><br />

upcoming <strong>Somerville</strong> <strong>House</strong> Ball.<br />

Thank you to those who were able to attend. The evening provided a warm welcome to all members of <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Somerville</strong> <strong>House</strong> community for <strong>the</strong> start of <strong>the</strong> school year and a special welcome to new parents to <strong>the</strong> School.<br />

A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR THE HEALTH OF YOUR CHILD<br />

The Brisbane City Council School-based immunisation team will be visiting <strong>the</strong> <strong>Somerville</strong> <strong>House</strong> School Health<br />

Centre on 21 February (11.15am to 12.30pm) to provide free vaccinations for Hepatitis B dose 1 and also<br />

offered is <strong>the</strong> HPV vaccination (Gardacil) to protect against <strong>the</strong> Human Papillomavirus. The vaccinations will be<br />

conducted at our School Health Centre by a team of specially trained registered nurses. A consent form for each<br />

vaccination has been provided to all Year 8 parents via post and email. Only students who have a completed and<br />

signed vaccination consent form will be eligible to receive <strong>the</strong> free vaccination(s). If you have arranged for your<br />

daughter to be immunised privately, please send a copy of <strong>the</strong> signed vaccination by your doctor so that we may<br />

update your daughter’s medical records, or notify <strong>the</strong> Health Centre by email at<br />

healthcentre@somerville.qld.edu.au<br />

Parents are encouraged to ensure <strong>the</strong>ir children have breakfast and morning tea on <strong>the</strong> morning of<br />

vaccination. For more information about diseases, vaccines or <strong>the</strong> School-based Vaccination Program, visit<br />

P&F MEETING<br />

The <strong>Somerville</strong> <strong>House</strong> P&F Association welcomes all parents and friends to <strong>the</strong> next General Meeting on 19<br />

February in The Chambers (Old <strong>To</strong>wn Hall) from 7.00pm for refreshments and meeting from 7.30 to 9.30 pm.<br />

There will be a report from our Principal, Mrs Flo Kearney, updates from <strong>the</strong> Support Groups and o<strong>the</strong>r discussions.<br />

FATHER AND DAUGHTER FISHING & ADVENTURE WEEKEND<br />

The Junior School Fa<strong>the</strong>r & Daughter Fishing & Adventure Weekend is being held on 8-10 March. This event is<br />

open to all girls from Prep to Year 6. Held annually and run by a <strong>Somerville</strong> <strong>House</strong> fa<strong>the</strong>r, it is a great way for dads<br />

to meet o<strong>the</strong>r dads as well as <strong>the</strong>ir daughter’s friends. Lots of fun for everyone with activities on offer like camping,<br />

fishing, abseiling, canoeing and a bonfire. For more information, see <strong>the</strong> flyer at <strong>the</strong> end of <strong>the</strong> newsletter and to<br />

SOMERFARE TUCKSHOP NEWS TERM 1, 2013<br />

Hooray! Welcome back to Somerfare for 2013. With <strong>the</strong> year well and truly under way we are in full swing once<br />

again. Our staff members are Genevieve Vever, Lisa Wood and Helen Healy. We are located on <strong>the</strong> ground<br />

floor of <strong>the</strong> Junior School Building and our opening times are from 7.45am to 1.30pm Monday – Friday. We can be<br />
