20 MACHINERY UPDATE MAY/JUNE 2015 www.machineryupdate.co.uk
New Machinery
Wrappers stretched
to meet all demands
The new generation of stretch
wrappers developed by Taiwanesebased
Extend are now available
from stock from Contact Packaging. Two
new units – at the top end of performance
and also an entry level model – have been
developed following feedback from the UK.
“We have always believed the
combination of price and build quality
across the middle range of Extend
equipment was excellent, however we
felt improvements needed to be made
at the lower and top end of the range,”
says Andrew Saxton, sales manager at
Contact Packaging.
The result is the new Exp-403
stretchwrapper that gives the operator
full control over how much film is
applied to the pallet. This includes fully
programmable numbers of top, middle
and bottom wraps, up and down or
up-only wrap cycles, adjustable overlap
with secure top sheet function, quick
release tension control and adjustable
turntable speed.
“Most importantly we have been able
to achieve all this extra functionality
with only a small increase in cost to give
an ideal solution to those customers on a
budget,” says Saxton.
In addition, a new top of the range
semi-automatic model Exp-133 has
also been
developed.
“This
machine
gives us five
completely
independent
wrapping
New maintenance contract is presented
Krones UK has developed a tailor made
maintenance contract for all current
Krones and Kosme customers in the
UK and Ireland. Reduced output and
downtime are just one of the tell tale
signs of ageing equipment which can
have a detrimental effect on company
profits, so Krones says this newly
developed contract will help customers
as they head towards the all-important
summer months.
programmes that are password
protected,” says Saxton. “Not only can
the customer choose the number of wraps
and speeds but they can also select the
film stretch ratio from 100 to 300% for
each of the programmes.”
This allows users to lower the ratio
and make the film thicker for pallets
with sharp corners
for one cycle but
maximise the film
usage on another.
“One of the most
exciting features is
the ability to change
the tension settings
for different sections
of the pallet which
allows us to ensure
the very best wrap
programme for each
individual pallet,
all with the touch of
one button,” Saxton
tells Machinery
