DAY 1-2: HO CHI MINH CITY<br />

French-era colonial buildings in the city.<br />

DAY 3-4: NHA TRANG<br />

Take a boat trip into the dazzling blue bay that<br />

surrounds this vibrant beach town and see the<br />

underwater world. Stop to swim at a pristine beach<br />

DAY 5-6: HOI AN<br />

Wander through the picturesque streets of this<br />

16th century trading port, where the buildings bear<br />

traces of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and French<br />

DAY 7-8: HUE<br />

Reflect upon ancient Vietnamese culture while<br />

exploring the riverside garden tombs built for<br />

Vietnam’s last emperors, or take a motorbike trip<br />

out to the stunning countryside. Overnight train to<br />

DAY 9: HALONG BAY<br />

Float through the islands that dot this vast emerald<br />

bay in a wooden junk boat and munch on fresh<br />

seafood in a sumptuous lunch. Spend the night<br />

in the harbour town of Bai Chai and sit out under<br />

DAY 18: CHIANG KHONG<br />

Continue by slow boat up the Mekong and cross into<br />

Thailand at the Houeisay border. Chiang Khong is a<br />

small riverside town with cross border trading from<br />

nearby villages. Spend the night here. (B)<br />

DAY 19-20: CHIANG MAI<br />

Arrive in Chiang Mai. Free time here to explore the<br />

town, visit the temple of Doi Suthep, catch a Thai<br />

boxing match or grab a bargain at the famous night<br />

markets. Overnight train to Bangkok on Day 20.<br />

DAY 21-22: BANGKOK<br />

Arrive into Bangkok with its chaotic streets and<br />

colourful markets. Depart on Day 22. (B)<br />
