and mountain herbs. Graukäse is a speciality of the Tirol; it is a hand-produced curd cheese,<br />

ripened for some weeks in a cellar. Its name comes from its green-grey crust of mould.<br />

This full-flavoured and very low-fat cheese is essential to some Tirolean specialities, giving<br />

Kaspressknödel dumplings their characteristic flavour.<br />

<strong>Active</strong> in Bregenzerwald<br />

The Bregenzerwald region is rich in natural charm, from lush Alpine<br />

foothills to high mountain peaks. Some 2,000 km of signposted hiking<br />

trails lead to the loveliest spots. Golf, Nordic walking, cycling, paragliding,<br />

climbing or white-water rafting – everything is possible.<br />

From May to the end of October, summer guests benefit from the<br />

Bregenzerwald guest card: access to all cable cars, swimming pools<br />

and public buses in Bregenzerwald is included in the overnight price with a<br />

stay of three nights. Winter in the Bregenzerwald is perfect for winter sports<br />

enthusiasts and Nature-lovers. Skiing variety is guaranteed with the Three<br />

Valleys ski pass. There are 300 km of cross-country ski runs, numerous<br />

natural toboggan runs and 200 km of signposted winter hiking trails to<br />

choose from.<br />

During these dates, children between 3 and 6 years old (born in<br />

2002/2003/2004) ski free of charge and can also have a free 4-day ski<br />

The mountain village lies at over 1,400 m and is a beacon of snow<br />

reliabilty, underlined by its 2006 prize of “world’s snowiest village”.<br />

Besides 64 km of marked pistes and ski routes, eleven sunny altitude<br />

cross-country ski kilometres and 22.5 km of winter hiking trails, winter in<br />

Damüls provides a varied programme of events for the whole family.<br />

Take a holiday from your car. In Damüls, a winter holiday awaits both<br />

you and your car, because at almost all the hotels you can enjoy skiing<br />

right up to the door.<br />

Winter brings much that is new. Two new detachable 6-seater<br />

gondolas are the highlight this coming season, with the Argental service<br />
