Mörbisch on the Neusiedler See<br />
This cyclists’ village at Neusiedler See extends a warm invitation to<br />
discover its picturesque landscapes and unique flora and fauna by<br />
bicycle. Use our nearby frontier crossing point for a detour into Hungary, or<br />
cross the lake on one of the regular cycle ferry services.<br />
Let your soul be soothed and experience Mörbisch hospitality, writ large in<br />
this village of lakeside festivals. A walk through its famous alleyways, which<br />
are part of this Unesco World Heritage Site, bears witness to old customs<br />
and traditions.<br />
As wine grapes have been cultivated here for centuries, you should not miss<br />
the opportunity to convince yourself of the quality of excellent wines from<br />
Mörbisch’s vintners, who also produce the official wine for the Viennese<br />
Opera Ball. This is best done in one of the Mörbisch’s long-established wine<br />
cellars, in the Mörbisch Vinothek or in the many restaurants and taverns.<br />
Frittatensuppe. Frittatensuppe, a clear soup with strips of pancake, is a<br />
traditional Austrian national dish. Whether as a starter or main course – it is served<br />
in the same way in all the Provinces. It could also be called “Palatschinkensuppe”,<br />
Palatschinken being another term for a pancake, a further typical Austrian speciality.<br />
