Chinese farmers could makebiogas and compost since hundred years ago through the natural decomposing processof used straws , manure of both human being and animal. Unfortunately, compostinghas been not carried out in urban area to treat the municipal solid waste in terms ofindustrialization in China. Contrarily, in some leading industrial countries, thecombination waste treatment plants of producing biogas and compost in big size andcapacity are accepted in recent years due to its environmentally friendly way andc1osing natural cyc1e. But the strict sorting requirement of municipal solid wastewhich is to completely sort organic waste out of the other waste at source is Olleofmost important key issues to operate this kind of plant successfully. But the products, compost, arecommonly with low quaiity due to the mixed waste and improper hand sorting.Experience has shown that the value of the compost is less than the costs of producingit since the bad compost has no marketability.
