<strong>Sahih</strong> <strong>Bukhari</strong> & <strong>Sahih</strong> <strong>Muslim</strong>Imaam Bekandi used to say proudly about his cleverstudent: "This boy is unique of his kind."On many occasions Imaam Bekandi talked to hiscolleagues about his student, Al-Bukhaari who memorizedseventy thousand Prophetic narrations by heart. Inaddition to this, he never reported a narration of thecompanions or the generation following them unless heknew when and where they were born, as well as wherethey lived and died!<strong>The</strong> years passed and Mohammad Ibn Ismaa'eel reachedthe age of sixteen years. He felt a great need to go andseek knowledge in every corner of the world to satisfy histhirst for knowledge. He headed to Makkah, accompaniedby his mother and elder brother, Ahmad, in 210 AH toperform Hajj (pilgrimage) and seek more knowledge. Afterthe pilgrimage, his mother and brother Ahmad returned toBukhaaraa while he stayed in Makkah to move between itsdomes of knowledge: East, and west; North and South.Before the end of two years in this sacred city, he startedwriting his book <strong>The</strong> Issues of the companions and theirFollowers which marked the beginning of his renownedbooks.Al-Bukhaari always loved to visit Madeenah. Among thefruits of his visits to that blessed place was writing hisbook: "<strong>The</strong> Big Book of History" which is considered thefirst book that comprises the names of the narrators ofProphetic narrations and the details of their lives.
