The VACO ® ped diebetic foot system is an orthopedictreatment concept for the diabetic footsyndrome similar to a total contact cast. Byutilizing a vacuum cushion (bean bag) inconjunction with a dampening insole and arocker bottom, the product has been designedto evenly distribute the pressure underneaththe foot. Thus, pressure peaks can be reducedin order to promote wound healing or toprevent wounds from occurring. The VACO ® peddiabetic foot system, featuring a lightweightbut stable lattice frame structure together withthe before mentioned vacuum cushion, offersthe stability, of a cast. As a result, shear forcesunderneath the foot, as would normally occurwhen walking without cast-like protection, canbe diminished. Unlike a total contact cast, theVACO ® ped diabetic foot can be removed andreapplied instantly for wound control purposesand in order to accommodate possible structuralchanges to the bone system of the foot.
