During those hiring processes applicants will be evaluated in terms of their employment applications, resumes, written & physical ability evaluations, experience, and general fit for the department. In order to streamlinethe hiring process and eliminate the need for candidates to reapply or re-test, the department will maintain an unrankedlist of candidates for full time positions that may be used for future hiring processes for a period of up to 18 months. The Eligibility List is designed to maintain an active group of potential candidates that meet the requirementsof the job description, and have passed both the written and physical ability exams. Those candidates may be asked tocontinue with other sections of the hiring process including oral boards, Chief’s interviews, and psychologicalevaluations at the sole decision of the Fire Chief. Since the goal of the department is to hire the best possible candidatefor every vacant position the presence of an active Eligibility List does not in any way preclude the department fromadvertising for more candidates at any time, for any vacant position.
