ATTIC CRAWLRequirement:Procedure:Penalty:Applicant will proceed on hand and knees on rafters which aretwenty-four (24) inches apart, through a ground level atticprop.The above requirement must be performed as quickly aspossible.A Ten (10) second penalty will be added to the applicant'soverall time each time his/her hand or knee touches theground.Job Relatedness: Proceeding through attics and confining crawl spaces in fullgear is a routine part <strong>of</strong> a firefighter's duties. In order to reachsmoldering attic fires, or to check for extension from an interiorfire, the firefighter may enter the attic and crawl to thenecessary location. If a part <strong>of</strong> the body drops between therafters, unnecessary damage is done to the ceiling and thiscould also result in injury to the firefighter.5. HOSE PULLRequirement: Extend a length <strong>of</strong> dry 2½" fire hose with nozzle attached 150feet from the starting point.Procedure:Penalty:The applicant will approach the dry 2½" fire hose and nozzlewhich is packed in a hose bed simulator. The applicant movesforward until the nozzle crosses the finish line and is placed onthe ground. This is completed as quickly as possible, andwithout stopping.A ten (10) second penalty will be issued if the nozzle isdropped to the ground prior to the finish line.Job Relatedness: 2 ½" hose is carried on engine companies in lengths up tothree-hundred fifty (350) feet. A firefighter occupying thenozzle position on an engine company is responsible forextending the line to the point <strong>of</strong> attack.4
