JOINT EVALUATION OF CONFLICT PREVENTION AND PEACE BUILDING IN DRCVOLUME 1In order to acquire a solid empirical knowledge, the evaluation team receivedfrom the Committee a database with 351 projects at various stages ofimplementation, from which the team was invited to select evaluation casestudies. It was recommended to select 50 to 60 projects per theme, and to visit 20to 25 interventions. From these, 5 to 6 would constitute an in-depth evaluation.The projects covered were sometimes jointly funded or were, in other cases,supported by a single donor. However, the aim of the evaluation is not toevaluate the results of each donor, nor to compare them, but rather to see how thevarious parts came together as a whole.The fact that some important donors in the DRC, such as the EuropeanCommission, the US Agency for International Development, the World Bank,Sweden and France, are not represented in the Steering Committee, does notweaken the relevance of the general conclusions, as one should consider thegeneral results achieved.
