The platform includes a duplicate of the operationalManagement & Information Control System connected to twocomputers that simulate the BHS real time Control System. ThePLC computer accurately simulates BHS network traffic andreal time responses of 64 conveyor controllers whereas theSCM computer simulates Sorter Controllers, Coding Stations, and a Sort Allocation Computer. Actual controller or computerhardware can be substituted for simulated nodes.enhancement modifications prior to implementation on theoperational system. It incorporates a “playback” featurewhereby event logs from the operational system can beprocessed for troubleshooting purposes. A user interface allowsmaintenance personnel to input any status or fault conditionand observe system response on the operational user screens.Commands may be entered on the operator workstation andsystem response monitored as if the operational BHS wasconnected. The system facilitates accurate testing and verification ofREMOTE CIRCUIT SELECTOR SWITCHSTATIONSToronto Pearson International Airport GreaterToronto Airports AuthorityToronto OntarioIBI Group/Giffels Associates Limited has contributed tothe development of remote circuit selector switch stationsin the airfield at Toronto Pearson International Airport. IBIGroup/Giffels designed, tested and commissioned thecommunications architecture and field control panels that linkremote circuits in the airfield to the Field Electrical Centres’AGL control system, which is operated from the ATC tower.IBI Group/Giffels also provided control system softwaredevelopment, testing and commissioning services and ongoingtechnical support. The system has grown to a network of over25 remote stations operating in the harsh outdoor environmentof the airfield while providing ATC operations with maximumflexibility in all visibility conditions.
