Now most of us didn’t have that kind of experience, so we’re maybe a little confused. What’s my purpose in life? I don’t know. That’s okay, I was the same. Here’s the truth. Apurpose is something that develops and evolves and grows as you pursue it and lookfor it and develop it. So, basically, a purpose can start as something very small andselfish, but then as you begin to pursue that it becomes a little bigger and a little biggerand a little bigger. Let me give you an example from my own life.So I didn’t know what my purpose was, but I had some clues, some hints and whereyou find the clues, the hints, are pain and pleasure. I did know that there were certainthings in my life that I really loved and enjoyed and I felt great doing and there wereother things in my life that I really hated and that were really boring to me. Well, justthose two things helped me to find my purpose. I mean that’s how you find it.So, for example, I really hated working in jobs. I hated having a boss tell me how toteach. I hated having a regular schedule like 9:00 to 5:00 or something like that. I hatedteaching from textbooks and just doing boring stuff like that and just trying to be Mr.Serious Teacher all the time. All of that stuff made me feel bored.I also loved some things. For example, I love to travel to other countries. I love to meetpeople in other countries, learn about their culture. I just love the feeling of newness andstrangeness, because it made me break my own patterns and made me think in newand different ways. I loved it.I also found something interesting. I actually loved to process of teaching. I reallyenjoyed being up in front of people and I found that I enjoyed making them laugh whilethey were learning. I enjoyed kind of entertaining them at the same time and that kind ofhelped me find my purpose, my direction. I didn’t start with some huge purpose, I juststarted with this. I want to be free.I realized when I looked at my pain and my pleasure that I valued freedom and traveland fun. So I said okay, that’s what I want in my life. I want to be free. I want to be freeto work any time I want. I want to be free to teach and work any where the way that Iwant. I choose. No one tells me what to do. I want to have my own schedule. I want tohave the freedom to travel around the world and live my perfect, ideal, lifestyle. I want tohave enough money to do that. I want to be able to teach in a way that’s fun andexciting for my students and myself because it just feels good and I like it. That was themotivation to develop Effortless English. Now, you’ve noticed that all of those things were actually kind of selfish, really justfocused on me and my own happiness. I wanted to be free. I wanted to live how Iwanted. I wanted enough money. I wanted to have fun. So it was really just focused onme. It was not a huge, big, purpose. It was just this is what I want in my life to feel goodand so I pursued it, very, very strongly, but guess what happened?www.EffortlessEnglishClub.com
