VIP Petfoods Gold CupCongratulations to Miss Grub and trainer Glenda Dart for winning the Group 1 VIP PetfoodsGold Cup. It was just reward to see one of Australia's most travelled greyhounds notch up herfirst Group 1 victory, and her fourth Group win this year. The race was a great spectacle, withEllieÆs Diamond setting a slashing pace up front and Miss Grub staging a breathtaking last tofirst victory. It was also great to see a home-town trifecta (yes - we will claim Miss Grub as anhonorary Queenslander).Hawkins Media Solutions Super StayersThe Hawkins Media Solutions Super Stayers is set for July 5 for the best four greyhoundsinvited. In fact, the prizemoney increase will be greater than the allocation, with the clubfunding the difference through increased operating efficiencies achieved over the past yearand continuing next year. The increase in allocation will be directed to Thursday and Fridayracing. The club's first priority was to return Friday prizemoney to normal Class 3 levels fromJuly 1. Our second priority was to achieve increases to Queensland premier city meeting onThursday night. The club is very pleased with the outcome of the discussions with the GRA.We will be reintroducing a stepped prizemoney scale on Thursday nights in order to rewardhigher grade greyhounds. The club will be providing extra incentive to encourage staying races in Queensland throughthe provision of higher levels of prizemoney for races conducted over 710m.Two levels of prizemoney will be paid as, realistically, we have three types of 710m races... 5th grade, 4th/5th grade and Best 8.The prizemoney for the graded races has been set above the 4th grade prizemoney levelpaid for 520m/600m races, and the Best 8 prize money $180 above Best 8 prizemoney paidfor 520m/600m races. The aim of this is to provide and incentive and monetary reward forconnections to step their greyhounds up to the staying distance and improve the depth ofstaying greyhounds in the State.Current Thursday night Prizemoney520m/600m/710mGraded Best 8Total 4100 48001st 2920 32202nd 660 8603rd 340 5404th 100 100Unp 20 20Thursday night prizemoney (from July 1)520m/600m710m5th 4th 3rd 2nd FFA Graded Best 8Total 4400 4600 4800 5000 5500 4700 56801st 3100 3250 3400 3550 3700 3300 38002nd 720 750 780 810 960 790 10003rd 400 420 440 460 660 430 7004th 100 100 100 100 100 100 100Unp 20 20 20 20 20 20 20Increase (from July 1)520m/600m710m5th 4th 3rd 2nd FFA Graded Best 8Total 300 500 700 900 700 600 880Monday Night meetings will remain as is, with the first two weeks of the month beingClass 1 (with existing Monday prize money) and the remaining weeks being Class 2.2007 NationalsNominations for the 2007 Nationals must be submitted to the GRA by Noon on July 31.Nominations forms will be available from the Brisbane Club office from early July.
