Rubbish bins could be placed close to the path or road to facilitate access by service vehicles. Thepublic could be encouraged to take their rubbish to these areas. This strategy would reduce litteringin the <strong>Reserve</strong> <strong>and</strong> would protect the grassed area.With regard to prawning activities, it is the Swan River Trust's policy that prawners should return theby-products <strong>of</strong> their catch back to the river, ensuring that fish are still alive. Prawners are not allowedto leave rubbish behind.Radio AntennaA radio antenna used by the Royal Perth Yacht Club is located in the southern part <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Reserve</strong>south <strong>of</strong> Australia II Drive. It may be more appropriate for the antenna to be moved into the RoyalPerth Yacht Club's leased area.TelephonesPublic telephones are situated on Australia II Drive <strong>and</strong> near the kiosk. Installing public telephonefacilities in the northern part <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Reserve</strong> should be considered.ACTIONS1. Investigate installing master electricity meters for all <strong>Reserve</strong> lease holders.2. Replace overhead power lines with underground power, as resources allow, to improve thesafety <strong>and</strong> aesthetics <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Reserve</strong>.3. Consider providing improved lighting on the <strong>Reserve</strong>, particularly along the multi-purpose path.4. Consider connecting the public, restaurant <strong>and</strong> kiosk toilets to mains sewerage.5. Review the drainage system in consultation with the Water Authority <strong>of</strong> Western Australia <strong>and</strong>the Swan River Trust.6. Replace the reticulation pump control cubicle.7. Upgrade <strong>and</strong> maintain the reticulation system.8. Consider providing additional bins, making more frequent rubbish collections <strong>and</strong> promoting"take it home" education.9. Place bins in clusters close to paths so that service vehicles do not need to drive along thegrassed area.10. Consider providing drinking fountains where appropriate.24
