24. COMMUNITY LIAISONThe objective is to provide the public <strong>and</strong> organisations with the opportunity to be involved in the<strong>Reserve</strong>'s management <strong>and</strong> planning.On-going liaison with local community groups <strong>and</strong> associations is essential, as is liaison with interestsfurther afield. This has been achieved by day-to-day contact between CALM staff <strong>and</strong> members <strong>of</strong>the public. The community has also been made aware <strong>of</strong> the preparation <strong>of</strong> this management planthrough radio <strong>and</strong> newspaper advertising. A public display was held during the two months publicreview period to give the community an opportunity to provide comments on the future development<strong>of</strong> the <strong>Reserve</strong>.Liaison between CALM, leaseholders <strong>and</strong> other Government agencies has also taken place <strong>and</strong> isdiscussed in Section 4. Surrounding Waters <strong>and</strong> Adjacent L<strong>and</strong>.The public could become involved in the implementation <strong>of</strong> this plan through the setting up <strong>of</strong> anadvisory committee, which would include members from the general public. appointed by theExecutive Director. Any such committee would be chaired by CALM.ACTION1. Consider the role the public can play in implementing this plan.25. TERM OF THIS PLANThe term <strong>of</strong> this plan will be 10 years.ACTIONS1. Review the implementation <strong>of</strong> the plan annually prior to preparing the works program for thefollowing year. The review should identify which recommendations have been achieved <strong>and</strong> towhat degree, <strong>and</strong> any new information which may affect management.2. Review the plan within 10 years from the date <strong>of</strong> gazettal <strong>of</strong> the final management plan. Thisreview should identify the extent to which the objectives have been achieved <strong>and</strong>recommendations implemented, the reason for lack <strong>of</strong> achievement or implementation, <strong>and</strong> asummary <strong>of</strong> information which may affect future management.Section 61 <strong>of</strong> the CALM Act provides for the plan to be amended as required. If major changes tothe plan are proposed, the revised plan will be released for public comment.56
