24. COMMUNITY LIAISONThe objective is to provide the public and organisations with the opportunity to be involved in theReserve's management and planning.On-going liaison with local community groups and associations is essential, as is liaison with interestsfurther afield. This has been achieved by day-to-day contact between CALM staff and members ofthe public. The community has also been made aware of the preparation of this management planthrough radio and newspaper advertising. A public display was held during the two months publicreview period to give the community an opportunity to provide comments on the future developmentof the Reserve.Liaison between CALM, leaseholders and other Government agencies has also taken place and isdiscussed in Section 4. Surrounding Waters and Adjacent Land.The public could become involved in the implementation of this plan through the setting up of anadvisory committee, which would include members from the general public. appointed by theExecutive Director. Any such committee would be chaired by CALM.ACTION1. Consider the role the public can play in implementing this plan.25. TERM OF THIS PLANThe term of this plan will be 10 years.ACTIONS1. Review the implementation of the plan annually prior to preparing the works program for thefollowing year. The review should identify which recommendations have been achieved and towhat degree, and any new information which may affect management.2. Review the plan within 10 years from the date of gazettal of the final management plan. Thisreview should identify the extent to which the objectives have been achieved andrecommendations implemented, the reason for lack of achievement or implementation, and asummary of information which may affect future management.Section 61 of the CALM Act provides for the plan to be amended as required. If major changes tothe plan are proposed, the revised plan will be released for public comment.56
