Monitoring Individual Student ProgressExaminations and assessments, other than the national examinations, are usually writtenand carried out by individual teachers and schools. The way in which reports on students’progress are compiled varies greatly. The assessment can be in the form of a numericalor letter grade or an oral or written commentary. Reports are given at regular intervalsthroughout the school year and at the end of each year to monitor progress and identifyif interventions are needed. In primary school, students are promoted automatically tothe next grade.PIRLS 2006 EncyclopediaSuggested ReadingsMinistry of Education, Science, and Culture.(2002).
