Figure 15, Sound EnclosureSound ReductionThe sound enclosure is constructed of prepaintedsteel formed into panels, gasketed andlined with an aluminized polyester-faced soundabsorbing insulation for maximum soundattenuation. The combination of the metal panelsand the specialized sound foam, provide anexcellent sound damping effect. The enclosurecan be factory or field installed and is completelyremovable. No field alterations are required toinstall the enclosure. Access to the compressorsis gained by removing any of the panels that arefastened with bolts not screws, facilitatingservice access and proper reinstallation of panels.Heat is allowed to escape through strategicallyplaced air gaps in the enclosure to help preventcompressor overheating. The reduction in soundlevel is shown in the tables on page 44.The enclosure increases the length, width, height and weight of the unit.Application DataLocation and Space RequirementsThe units are designed for indoor application and must be located in a space where the operating and standbytemperature is 40°F to 122°F (4.4°C to 50°C).Provide clearance of 3 ft. (914 mm) on each side and end for piping and to provide space for servicing the unit.Consult the National Electric Code (NEC) and local codes as they may require additional clearance in front ofthe control/power panel. The electric panel is NEMA 1 construction.Provide clearance at either end of the unit to permit cleaning or removal of condenser tubes (see dimensionaldata). If a door or window is provided at one end of the unit, the tubes can be replaced through the openingprovided.FoundationMount the unit on a level concrete foundation. Floors must be strong enough to support the unit operatingweight. If necessary, use structural supports to transfer the weight of the unit to the nearest beams.Vibration IsolationVibration mounts are recommended for upper floor installations or where compressor noises might beobjectionable (next to occupied spaces such as offices, meeting rooms, etc.).Vibration eliminators can be used for water piping connected to the unit to minimize transmission of water orpump noise into occupied spaces.Catalog WGS-1 WGS 130A – 190A 45
