61SECTION THREESTUDENT SUPPORT SERVICESCollege ServicesMadinat Zayed Colleges and Ruwais Colleges offer a range of programs andsupport services providing opportunities to enhance student learning andpromote student participation in social, cultural, recreational and governanceprograms.Academic ServicesAcademic Services is principally responsible for ensuring that your registrationand academic progression requirements are met. The following is a list ofsome of the services available:➲➲Admissions➲➲Student Registration and Records➲➲Student Withdrawals, Re-enrolment and Transfers➲➲Students’ Enrolment Verification documents➲➲Scheduling and Timetables➲➲Student Enrolment and Other Statistics➲➲Recognition of prior learning➲➲Student grades, transcripts, credentials and Letter of CompletionIf you have questions or concerns about any of these areas, please contactAcademic Services.
62H I G H E R C O L L E G E S O F T E C H N O L O G YRegistration and Re-enrolmentContinuing students are automatically registered for the next term or semesterunless they withdraw, or are asked to withdraw for academic reasons, or aresuspended for academic or nonacademic reasons. Students who leave the College(withdraw or do not show up for a new semester) and wish to return, mustinitiate a petition to the Director which states the reasons for withdrawal and thereasons for the request to reenroll. This should be given to Academic Services orfaxed to the College’s main fax number. Management will review the situationand decide whether to accept the student or otherwise. The reenrollments aresubject to availability of space.WithdrawalStudents sometimes seek to withdraw from a semester or academic yeardue to personal or academic reasons. The reasons or the timing may affect astudent’s chances to return to the college or other issues. In order to best exploreall options and make the best decision, students are encouraged to speak withtheir academic advisor (foundations or program supervisor) or college counselor.Students may be withdrawn from the college following due process for behaviorreasons (as described in the code of conduct) or for attendance difficulties. Torequest to withdraw, please seek a withdrawal form from Academic Services.GraduationAcademic Services will ensure that all entry and exit requirements are met forthe student to graduate in a timely manner, perform degree audits and registerstudents for IELTS examination to complete their final comprehensive assessmentin English.STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICESRequest for official documentationStudents can approach academic services in case they cannot access their portalto request official documents such as official transcripts by paying a fee at theFinance Office or letters of enrollment for their employers. The request is routedonline to Central Services and takes around 5-10 days for processing.Independent Learning CentreThe ILC is here to support and encourage you to study effectively on your own.• Our long term aim is to have you graduate as autonomous lifelonglearners.• Our mid-term aim is to get you learning independently any time, anyplace.• Our immediate aim is to provide resources that are stimulating, relevantto your studies and interests, appropriate to your level of English andreadiness to work independently.At the ILC we are determined to help you develop independent learning skills andStudent Handbook - 2011-2012
