69➲➲Sports and Events Coordinator➲➲SecretaryUnder the guidance <strong>of</strong> a student council advisor student council members serveas links between the students and the college management. Student councilmembers also work closely with class representatives. Class representatives areselected by students and faculty from each college section to carry the voice <strong>of</strong>the students to the student council members.In addition to representing the needs <strong>of</strong> the student body to the collegeadministration, student council members represent the <strong>College</strong>s at communityevents; assume leadership roles in organizing college activities, plan leadershipdevelopment and enrichment opportunities for the student body, as well as workto enhance the college spirit amongst the students.STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICESStudent ID CardsFor all new students, after working with Academic Services to ensure enrolmentis complete and an ID number is generated, Student Services will print and issue<strong>College</strong> ID cards. You will need a valid Student ID Card to access:➲➲<strong>College</strong> campus➲➲Examinations➲➲Library and Learning Centre➲➲Transport services➲➲Use other college facilities or services, e.g. the canteenThe ID card will be valid for as long as you remain a student. The card must bereturned to the <strong>College</strong> if you withdraw or discontinue your studies for any reason.You must show your ID card to security or <strong>College</strong> staff when requested. If youlose your ID card, a replacement card will be issued for a charge. Students withspecial circumstances may be given a “Flexible Leave Card” or “green card” whichallows them to leave the college without supervisory permission; all others mustspeak with their academic supervisor and student services if they are requestingto leave while classes are in session.Transportation / Bus ServicesThe students at Madinat Zayed <strong>College</strong>s and Ruwais <strong>College</strong>s come from asfar away as Al Sila or Al Mirfa. Transport is provided for students so that theydon’t have to come on their own to college from such distances. This service iscurrently provided free <strong>of</strong> charge to all students who abide by the bus rules, andagree to pick up times and locations available. Rules below are in place to ensurethat travel to and from college occurs in an orderly and safe manner.
