SECTION IX- Write off Stocks, Tools & Plant, Measurement Books and Muster Rolls, Receipt Books,Discrepancies in Accounts: Sanction of Estimates for LossesIn all cases of loss of Govt. / Board property of stores, the authority competent to write it off should first undertakean investigation into the circumstances leading to the loss if it is found that the loss has been occasioned by fraudor negligence he should(a) In the case of Government/ Board servants, submit a report to the authority competent to take disciplinary actionor if, he himself is the competent authority proposed to take appropriate action and.(b) In the case or any other person, take such steps ,as may be appropriate . to recover the value of the loss or to tthere proceedings, as the case may be After necessary action has been taken, the authority specified in the list maywrite offthe loss to the extent indicated .A report setting out the circumstances in which the loss occurred, the personor persons responsible for the loss, the action, it any taken against the persons responsible for the loss, and a copyof the sanction to the write off should be sent to the FA & CAO,77.
