mINImUm DAy ScHEDULE**NEW**Beginning this September, each Wednesday will be designated as a minimum day for each school in the district. On eachWednesday:• Elementary schools will be released 60 minutes early• Middle schools will be released 75 minutes early• High Schools will be released 90 minutes early• Unidos and Eddie White Academy will be released 60 minutes early• Elite Scholars Academy and the Ash Street Center will be released 75 minutes earlyRegular home to school transportation will be provided on these days based on the following dismissal schedule:mINImUm DAy ScHEDULESchools Start Time End TimesElementary Schools and Unidos 7:45am 1:10pmMiddle Schools and Elite Scholars Academy 8:50am 2:30pmHigh Schools and Flint River 8:05am 1:45pmWhite Academy 7:30am 1:25pmAsh Street 9:00am 2:00pmThis minimum day schedule is one method to support classroom instruction and address student needs as defined by our studentdata. The early release will allow for our school staff to receive professional development and collaborate in order to supportstudent learning.Students that are attending Campus-Kids will still be able to attend Campus-Kids immediately upon dismissal on minimum days.Students that are involved in extra-curricular activities afterschool such as rehearsals or sports practices will be able to attendstudy hall immediately following dismissal until their normally scheduled practice times. This will enable students participating inthese activities to complete homework assignments and study during teacher training and collaboration.Senior Exit Portfolio 2012-2013 **NEW**The CCPS Senior Exit Portfolio is a requirement for all 12th gradestudents taking the 12th grade British Literature and CompositionCourse. Throughout the senior year, students will collectassignments, projects, writings, assessments, and college/careerpreparation documents to complete their CCPS Senior ExitPortfolio. The CCPS Senior Portfolio includes tasks that requireknowledge gained from English, Social Studies, Science, Math,andCareer, Technical and Agricultural Education.. Students arerequired to adhere to due dates to ensure they meet the finalrequirements of a portfolio representing best work and learningexperiences. Teachers will use technology to assist students inmaintaining their portfolio throughout the year. The CCPS SeniorExit Portfolio is comprised of the following: Personal Goals,Health Campaign Proposal, Social Studies Fair Project, College /Career Package, College Review, Education Philosophy, PersonalSoundtrack, Independent Study. At the end of the school year,students are required to presenttheir portfolio using technologyresources.Glossary:Health campaign – Study of a health issue that impacts societycareer Package – A collection of college and career-related documents that prepares students for success in collegeand the work forcecollege review – A survey of different colleges to determine if they meet students’ academic and career goalsEducation Philosophy – Students’ belief about the importance of learningPersonal Soundtrack – A collection of songs that describes students’ lives and experiencesIndependent Study – Extensive research on literature in the world to express students’ opinions45
