The number <strong>of</strong> DI beneficiaries morethan doubled between 1980 <strong>and</strong> 2010. In the same period, the number <strong>of</strong> SSI beneficiaries under age 18increased more than six-fold, <strong>and</strong> the number <strong>of</strong> SSI beneficiaries ages 18 to 64 nearly tripled.Currently, about 1.9 million disabled beneficiaries receive both Social Security <strong>and</strong> SSI benefits, knownas concurrent beneficiaries. Also, the DI figures on this page include dependents.
