Community Campaign Rejects Station CutsFollowing the results of the recent staff reviews on South Coast Stations, RTBU members and theirlocal communities are getting angry about the cynical cost-cutting exercise dressed up as reform.During the staff review processRTBU and community membershave distributed postcards to theMinister for Transport DavidCampbell calling on improvementsto public transport not cuts.A protest meeting in Wollongongon Friday 29 May was attended byrail employees and members of thelocal community disgusted at theannounced cuts to services on SouthCoast stations. The Governmentand RailCorp cynically believe thataffected communities accept theirempty undertakings about no loss ofstation positions or services. Theycould not be more wrong. Thoseattending the protest meetings wereclearly angry this Government’slack of concern for the needs of localcommunities.
