MILL 2 MILL Charity Cycling TourRTBU members have enthusiastically joinedin the annual 5 day cycling tour starting fromNamoi Flour Mills in Gunnedah to finish atManildra Flour Mills in Manildra.The five day ride in March raised funds for theMcGrath Foundation & Manildra Lions Club<strong>and</strong> supporting local public schools along theway. The mix <strong>of</strong> experienced <strong>and</strong> novice riderscame from companies <strong>and</strong> communities all overthe west.Our bikers were ably supported by a team in theunion vehicle driven by Arthur Pollard’s (who wascycling) son. John hasbeen a motoring enthusiast <strong>and</strong> Bash participant for many years, combining hispassion for his vintage beauties with raising funds for children’s charities.This year John (<strong>and</strong> his 1964 Wolseley 24/80 Mk II) will be joining other participantsover the 11 day journey from the Opera House to Alice Springs then finishing inBroken Hill to raise valuable funds for special needs children. <strong>In</strong> 2008, approximately$13 million was given by variety to help individual children, hospitals, schools,community groups <strong>and</strong> other charitable organisations.If you would like to help support John’s fund raising efforts contact him on:0402601308 or email: john_curley@bigpond.comPage 22 raIL & ROAD June 2009
