Two new members joined PTV‘s Board of
Directors on July 1, 2008
The size of the PTV Board has been increased from four to
six members. Thomas Haupt, 50, has been working for PTV
for more than 20 years. Since 2006, he has been Head of the
Traffic Planning division. He is now responsible for the Traffic
Software business unit. Vincent Kobesen, 46, founder of PTV
Benelux (former Ordis B.V), will support the PTV Board concerning
international market positioning.
The roles and responsibilities of the other members of PTV’s
Board of Directors are as follows: Dr.-Ing. Hans Hubschneider
is Chairman of the Board of Directors. He is responsible for
the following business units: Research, Corporate Communications,
Infrastructure & Production and Human Resources.
Dr.-Ing. Thomas Schwerdtfeger is in charge of Business De-
velopment and the Transport Consulting business unit.
Dr. Joachim Schmidt is responsible for the Logistics Software
business unit. Harald Holberg is in charge of Controlling &
Finance and the Databases Processes Quality business unit.
USA: Staff Training Simulator
for the Utah Traffic Lab
PTV America, Inc. is pleased to submit this scope of work for
the development of a staff training simulator to the Utah Traffic
Lab. PTV will develop a training environment that realistically
simulates the working environment for TOC staff as they
are using traffic control tools such as rump meters and VMS to
respond to special traffic conditions such as special events and
incidents. The proposed approach uses PTV´s TrafficPlatform
(TP) software suite as the data collection and storage system as
well as to visualize complete network traffic flow and conditions.
As all traffic detection data is stored in the TP database,
UTL staff can easily retrieve cohesive network detector data,
observed real events and their control response. Furthermore,
UTL staff will be able to develop artificial detector data based
on VISUM/VISSIM model runs corresponding to a simulated
control response. Using this system for training will allow TOC
personnel to respond to a real event in a simulated environment
with the observed traffic condition responding to their selected
