26 • <strong>GradNews</strong>Interscholastic Sports Summary – Spring 20<strong>04</strong>The highlights of the Spring Season included a 1stplace finish in the Brookly/Queens Championshipsby the Girls' Outdoor Track Team and a 2nd placefmish in the Brooklyn/Queens Championships bythe Boys' Outdoor Track Team. KatherineSorokko was the Meet MVP. . . she won the 1500 mrun and the 3000m run. Nicolette Vigletta was theFreshmen Champion in the Javelin.The Handball Team won its second consecutiveCity Championship with another undefeatedseason. A great job was done by the Team andCoach Grimm. Congratulations! Special thanks toMr. & Mrs. O'Donnell for all their help and support.The future looks good. The JV Handball team wonthe City Championship also.The Varsity Baseball Team finished 5th in thevery <strong>com</strong>petitive Brooklyn/Queens Division and wereeliminated from the playoffs in the second round by Mt. <strong>St</strong>.Michael. The team only graduates 4 players and hopes forcontinued success from all the returning team members.The Boys' Volleyball Team fnished 2n in their divisionand lost a tough match to Chaminade in the Championships.Congratulations to the players and Coach Colucci, Coachof the Year, for a great season.The Golf Team made the "B" Championship and played<strong>St</strong>epinac at Winged Foot Country Club in Westchester. It wasa thrill for the players to get an opportunity to play at sucha great course.The Boys' Tennis Team improved on their record from lastyear and hope to make the playoffs in the ffiture.The Softball Program continued to stay at the top of theirLeague. The Varsity was eliminated in the semi-finals by MaryLouis in an exciting game.
