38 • <strong>GradNews</strong>Principal’s DinnerOn Saturday, March 27, 20<strong>04</strong>, about 90 peopleenjoyed an evening of fine food and friendship as the Prepturned its library into the fabulous "6100 Restaurant" forthe Annual Principal’s Dinner.Organized to recognize the generosity of those whohave contributed at The <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Francis</strong> Society level and above($1000 or more) during the previousyear, as well as the members of TheBoard of Trustees, the dinner also providesthe Principal, Brother LeonardConway, O.S.F., with an opportunity toreport on the "<strong>St</strong>ate of the Prep" which,thankfully, is very healthy, due in largemeasure to the ongoing supportof its loyal alumni, parents and friends.This year’s dinner was highlightedby the presence of Mr. and Mrs.Vincent A. Toscano ’53 and the wonderful talk given byMr. Toscano that centered on his gratitude to the<strong>Francis</strong>cans for the important role they played in helpingto shape his life. He also took the opportunity to makeanother major contribution toward the recently establishedVincent A. Toscano Scholarship Fund at the Prep.In addition, a wonderful presentation was made to theguests by Science Department Chairperson, Mary AnnSpicijaric ’84 and her students Michelle Bubnik ’<strong>04</strong> (nowin the Honors Program at Queens College) and MarlenaLaszkowska ’<strong>04</strong> (now at Harvard University), both ofwhom were Intel Science Talent Search Semi-Finalists asseniors last year.The next Principal’s Dinner will be held at the Prep onSaturday, April 9, 2005.
