Comprehensive Development Plan – PKDA 20318.4.1.2 Physical Composition of generated solid wasteThe total waste generated in the municipal area as per the assessment done by the local authorities isaround 50 tons/day. Organic matter and fine earth with soil and ash are the major constituents.Organic matter accounts for 35.60% of the waste while 58.50% comprises of inert matter. Paper andplastics constitutes of about 2.80% and 2.00% respectively. Hotels and restaurantsdispose off their waste into the bins provided by the municipality in Puri town in different places. Mostof the waste generated from the commercial establishments is bio-degradable in nature.
