Winter of the WitchPART FOUR: ATOP THESCOURGE MOUNTAINSEither with the Sun’s Sliver or without, the PCs areurged by Sir Keegan or Lord Padraig to go on andconfront the Winter Witch. Even if they cannot defeatthe archfey once and for all, they can at least end herassault on the world.Either through Sir Keegan or their own research,they can find that the Winter Witch enters the worldthough a fey passage located atop a peak calledCrone’s Finger among the northernmost ScourgeMountains. The crossing, which directly links Koliada’sdomains with the world, occurs only during thecoldest of winters, when a glacial shelf is formed fromthe Crone’s Finger. Then a circle of blue ice menhirsform on the shelf, allowing Koliada and her minionsto pass through easily.To use the blue ice menhirs to pass into the Feywild,the PCs need to use the Fey Passage ritual (fromManual of the Planes, page 150, and reprinted in thesidebar, below). If they don’t already have access tothe ritual, they can gain it either by way of Valthrunthe Prescient in Winterhaven or maybe by tradingwith the peaceful eladrin enclave located in theScourge Mountains.Fey PassageYou open a path marked by standing stones, allowing youand your allies to step into the Feywild.Level: 6Component Cost: 140 gpCategory: Travel(see below)Time: 10 minutes Market Price: 360 gpDuration: Instantaneous Key Skill: Arcana or Nature(no check)Use this ritual at a fey crossing (see page 34). When youperform this ritual, you transport yourself and up to eightallies from the world to a corresponding location in theFeywild, or from the Feywild to a corresponding locationin the world. The fey crossing need not be active for FeyPassage to work.You remain in the Feywild until you leave by anothermeans or you perform this ritual again at a fey crossing.Special: Eladrin have a special connection to theFeywild. Consequently, an eladrin who has masteredthis ritual or performs it from a scroll does not pay thecomponent cost.Climbing Crone’s FingerThough a difficult task and rather slow going, the PCsface no real challenge climbing up the mountain tothe glacial shelf. Once the PCs reach the foot of themountain, it takes the entire day before they dealwith the tactical encounter.Tactical Encounter: S1: Frozen Passage (page 51).Kurikveaeri ’s LairPCs might want to search for Kurikveaeri ’s lair afterthey defeat the dragon.
