Starting at the new venue of LanesHotel, (www.lanes.net 01935 862555), West Coker, on the A30 justsouth of Yeovil, this event should appeal to all of you with properlyprepared MMM road cars. In other words, nearly all of youThe event traverses approximately 90 miles of picturesque lanes inSomerset and Dorset, with about ten sections to test your mettle.Clerk of the Course, Bruce Weston, assures me that none of thesections is of a rough nature, in other words you should not expect todamage your car. If you are in any doubt about whether to enter or notgive me a call.The whole weekend is designed for maximum fun and enjoyment.Based at the comfortable Lanes Hotel, it is suggested that thosesensible types coming down book their Friday evening meal at theEast Street Wine Bar (Telephone 01935 863929) and say that you arein Derek Richard’s MG party, 7.30 for 8pm. For those who prefer itthere is plenty of bed and breakfast accommodation in West Coker;this can be booked through Yeovil TIC on 01935 845946.After the trial on the Saturday evening there is an informal dinnerat Lanes. Our competition secretary, Mike Linward, has kindly agreedto entertain us afterwards in his own wittily inimitable fashion. Definitelynot to be missed.On the Sunday morning we move on to Rockes Barn at Butleigh,home of those two MMM luminaries, Barry Foster and Hamish McNinch.They have again kindly given permission for us to use their largefield for some friendly driving tests.Organising events of this nature is becoming increasingly difficultbecause of the proliferation of paperwork and interference by the antimotoringbrigade. This is the oldest event run by the MG Car Club, ifyou want to keep it enter or you will lose it!Regulations will have been sent to those who have entered previously,but may be found on the South West Centre website.
