Six core-risk areas were identified where it was felt interventions would bemost useful:1. Trauma (the prevention <strong>of</strong> mental illness after exposure to violence);2. Multiple Deprivation (poverty, unemployment, food insecurity andhousing);3. Pre-school (access to affordable, high quality pre-school facilities);4. Recreation (access to a range <strong>of</strong> sports and other recreationalfacilities);5. Substance Abuse (alcohol and drug abuse); and6. <strong>Mental</strong>-<strong>Health</strong> Services (prevention and screening, access totreatment)Table 7 on page 26 presents a summary <strong>of</strong> the reasons why these areas wereselected.
