Both artistshave exhibited work relating <strong>to</strong> difficult issuessuch as <strong>the</strong> Holocaust and survivingtrauma. Pupils were encouraged <strong>to</strong> express<strong>the</strong>ir own personal experiences, or familys<strong>to</strong>ries, through <strong>the</strong> creative use <strong>of</strong> mixedmedia.Paris VisitA number <strong>of</strong> pupils from Years 9 <strong>to</strong> 13 thoroughlyenjoyed a trip <strong>to</strong> Paris. The pupilsvisited several galleries <strong>to</strong> conduct researchin<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir class <strong>the</strong>mes and were as<strong>to</strong>undedby <strong>the</strong> diverse range<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> work on displayin <strong>the</strong> Louvre,Musee D’Orsay and<strong>the</strong> Pompidou Centre.The low temperaturesdid notdampen spiritsas <strong>the</strong> pupils visited<strong>the</strong> Sacre Coeur andenjoyed a leisurelystroll in Montmartre.Ms R LewisNational Museum Wales / Amgueddfa CymruPupils from Years 8, 11 and 12 all visitedThe National Museum <strong>of</strong> Wales during <strong>the</strong>course <strong>of</strong> this school year. The pupils found anumber <strong>of</strong> exciting and useful resourcesduring <strong>the</strong>ir visit. They were fascinated andinspired by works on display in <strong>the</strong> galleriesby artistssuch as AugustusandGwen John,Shani RhysJames andFrancis Bacon.Primary VisitsMany Y6 pupils from our feeder schoolshad <strong>the</strong> opportunity <strong>to</strong> visit <strong>the</strong> ArtDepartment and take part in a ‘taster’ lessonfocusing on <strong>the</strong> technique <strong>of</strong> monoprint.
