<strong>Tribal</strong> Group plc <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong> and <strong>Accounts</strong> <strong>2012</strong> | Chief Executive’s report09• Raising educational standards – measurement andevaluation of educational delivery, based on objectiveevidence, and the translation of that analytical evidenceinto improvement programmes, is required to support thedrive for better education outcomes.• Delivering efficiency and auditability – with finite resources,providers of education wish to improve cost effectiveness,and demonstrate good value for money in the educationthey deliver.Our systems and solutions are focused on our customers’needs, and they respond to these important market drivers bothin the UK and in our international markets.Higher Education<strong>Tribal</strong>’s services to the Higher Education market are presentlyfocused on student management systems and analyticsservices. We are the UK market leader in university studentmanagement systems, and we are successfully growing ourinternational Higher Education presence.During <strong>2012</strong> we secured four new universities as SITS TMstudent management system customers. In the UK, weconcluded a contract with the University of Staffordshire (with atotal initial value of £2.2m), and the University of Kent purchasedkey modules of the SITS TM system. In Asia Pacific, the RoyalMelbourne Institute of Technology purchased our systemunder a A$1.4m contract, and the University of Canterbury,Christchurch entered into a NZ$5.5m contract.Our other recent SITS TM customer projects are progressing well.The major change programme at Sydney University continues,and our systems are now in use at Trinity College, Dublin andUniversity of Oxford.<strong>Tribal</strong> has also extended the capabilities of the SITS TM systemthrough integrating specialist third party modules within thecore application. In <strong>2012</strong>, we launched the Azorus “studentcapture” system, which provides CRM-type functionality toassist universities in their student recruitment programmes. Theuniversities of Bedfordshire and Gloucestershire are amongstour first customers to adopt the Azorus system. We havealso launched the Ideate grant management system, whichassists universities to use research resources efficiently. We arecurrently implementing Ideate for the University of Warwick, toform part of our wider SITS TM deployment across its campus.In our analytics business, we are working with an increasingnumber of universities across the UK to help them betterunderstand their financial and operational metrics, to ensurethey are well prepared to manage their costs within theiravailable resources, and also to protect the quality of whatthey do. Looking forward, we will integrate i-graduate with ourexisting analytics and benchmarking activities to maximise thecombined benefits across our business.Going into 2013, we have a good pipeline of prospectivenew customers for the SITS TM system both in the UK andinternationally, including new opportunities in South Africa andNorth America.
