346 CHAPTER 8 ■ ORACLE STREAMSStreams Topology ViewsVarious Streams views provide detailed information and statistics about the Streams topology.Topology view information is gathered by executing the analyze_current_performance procedureas stated earlier. Table 8-1 shows various Streams topology views.Table 8-1. Views returning such temporary information include DBA_STREAMS_TP_COMPONENT_STAT, DBA_STREAMS_TP_PATH_BOTTLENECK, and DBA_STREAMS_TP_PATH_STAT. Whenthe user disconnects the session, the temporary information is purged.With each of the components, you must determine the component ID. This ID is assignedto each component and used throughout the topology mapping to track information about thecomponent and what information flows in and out of the component. The component ID canbe determined by querying the DBA_STREAMS_TP_COMPONENT view. You can query theDBA_STREAMS_TP_COMPONENT view on both the source and target databases to get a clearunderstanding of all the Streams components. Another view called STREAMS_TP_PATH_BOTTLENECKidentifies Streams performance problems:select component_id, component_name, component_type, component_dbfrom dba_streams_tp_path_bottleneckwhere bottleneck_identified ='YES'order by component_idSQL> /no rows selectedIf you get the “no rows selected” output, then the Streams Performance Advisor could notidentify any bottleneck components in your environment. If you get result sets returned fromthe query, this indicates you may have legitimate performance problems. You should check thestatus of these components. Next, you will have to put on your troubleshooting hat to diagnosethe performance bottlenecks.To display statistics for the components in the Streams topology, run the following query:select component_id, component_name, component_type,statistic_name, statistic_value, statistic_unitfrom dba_streams_tp_component_statorder by component_id, component_name, component_type, statistic_nameSQL> /■Note Oracle recommends that each apply process dequeues messages from only a single source. Oraclealso recommends that each propagation sends changes to a separate queue.
