An attempt has <strong>the</strong>refore been made to determ<strong>in</strong>e to analyse<strong>the</strong> access of <strong>the</strong> households to latr<strong>in</strong>e <strong>and</strong> dr<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g water facilities at <strong>the</strong> state level <strong>and</strong> acrosssocial groups.The percentage of households hav<strong>in</strong>g electricity connection has gone up significantly both <strong>in</strong>rural <strong>and</strong> urban areas (Table 7). The <strong>in</strong>crease is higher <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> former which has reduced <strong>the</strong> ruralurban <strong>in</strong>equality over <strong>the</strong> past decade. The <strong>in</strong>ter-state <strong>in</strong>equality too has recorded a noticeablereduction, <strong>the</strong> decl<strong>in</strong>e <strong>in</strong> coefficient of variation be<strong>in</strong>g higher <strong>in</strong> rural than urban areas. Thiswould be considered a positive step towards <strong>in</strong>clusive growth <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> country. Unfortunately, <strong>the</strong>same cannot be said regard<strong>in</strong>g water supply <strong>and</strong> sanitation facilities. The reduction <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>25
