malaysia | 1 first avenue becomes our new ‘green’ hQ 25 October 2010 became an auspicious and memorable day for Scomi as we officially moved to our new global headquarters (HQ) at 1 First Avenue. Accredited as a Green Building with multimedia super corridor (MSC) status, 1 First Avenue is located in the highly accessible township of Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The move involved all Scomi companies previously operating in Wisma Chase Perdana (WCP), Kuala Lumpur. The official opening ceremony was graced by Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, Chairman of Scomi Group Bhd and attended by the 14 JANUARY 2011 | FOCUS company’s Board of Directors and employees. The event opened with a short presentation highlighting the ups and downs of working at WCP - yes, those were the times we complained about everything! The decision to move to 1 First Avenue was not easy, as we had been working at WCP since 2000. However as the Company expanded and space became limited, we had to consider relocation in order to provide better working conditions and more conducive and safer working surroundings for employees. The move also helped augment our services to our business partners and customers. 1 First Avenue provides enhanced facilities complete with a nursing room for new mothers and a sick bay. There is also ample and affordable parking space that is well lit and well ventilated complete with CCTV. Employees are also spoilt for choice during lunch as there are many eateries at the nearby 1 Utama Shopping Centre. As 1 First Avenue is a Green Building, all of us at Team Scomi are doing our bit for a greener environment by making it a habit to reuse, reduce, recycle. Let’s keep going ‘green’.
