first 4-car monorail arrives safely in Mumbai
Scomi’s first 4-car monorail safely arrived in
Mumbai, India in what has been hailed by many
as a historic accomplishment for both countries.
The 4-car monorail left Port Klang, Malaysia
on 17 September 2010 and arrived safely
in Mumbai on 3 October 2010 after which
arrangements were made for it to be
transported to the Wadala monorail depot.
Preparations for the delivery took over two
months and included the application of permits
from various government agencies. Special
thanks to the 15 team members who were
tasked with the mammoth undertaking of the
move, especially to Shahir Azhan, Stanislaus
Roshan and Suhaimi Molok. Well done team!
The team at North Kuala Lumpur Facility,
Malaysia is currently working diligently on the
next delivery scheduled for January 2011.

two years
and going strong
Scomi Oiltools India has officially made it for
two years without any Lost-Time Incident (LTI).
This milestone, is testimony to the dedicated
efforts of all members of management,
employees and contractors involved.
To drive the team towards this achievement,
many initiatives were implemented over
time. This included hazard identification
through Safety Observation programmes;
workstation ergonomic evaluations; safety
committees; safety meets; developing and
implementing HSE trainings including
e-learning modules; establishing and
enforcing safety procedures at the workplace

through awareness campaigns, employee
recognition and reward programmes. These
programmes have raised the employees’ level
of awareness on health and safety issues
while making them more accountable for the
safety of their fellow colleagues.
To celebrate this achievement, a gettogether
was organised at our Scomi office
with our India Country President, Suhaimi.
During the celebration, Suhaimi gave all
employees a small token of appreciation for
their efforts.
