Minister to NKlF<br />

<strong>Scomi</strong> Engineering was honoured to receive Yang Berhormat<br />

Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and<br />

Industry Malaysia who was on his official visit to our North KL<br />

Facility (NKLF).<br />

Our Group CEO, Shah Hakim Zain and <strong>Scomi</strong> Engineering Chairman, Yang<br />

Berbahagia Datuk Zainun Aishah Ahmad were on hand to welcome the<br />

honourable Minister.<br />

Our President, Syahrunizam Samsudin had the privilege to showcase<br />

<strong>Scomi</strong> Engineering’s Monorail technology and innovation, featuring<br />

the world-renowned four-car monorail on our 1km test track to<br />

the honourable Minister. During the tour, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri<br />

Mustapa was invited to inspect and test the interior strength of one of<br />

the Mumbai Monorail car body structure.<br />

Later while at our Coach manufacturing facility, Yang Berhormat Dato’<br />

Sri Mustapa was taken for a short drive on a luxury double-decker bus<br />

manufactured by <strong>Scomi</strong>.<br />

To commemorate this auspicious visit, the Minister was invited to pen his<br />

signature on our Generation 1 monorail model on display at NKLF. The<br />

Generation 1 model was the first Monorail car manufactured at this facility<br />

and the model used for the current KL monorail.<br />

At the press conference after the tour, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Mustapa<br />

acknowledged that <strong>Scomi</strong> had world class facilities that could rival any in<br />

Europe with the capabilities to take on renowned global players on the<br />

international front. “<strong>Scomi</strong> has tremendous global potential and it is a<br />

Malaysian export that we can be proud of,’’ added the honourable Minister.<br />

This visit was an opportunity for <strong>Scomi</strong> Engineering to share our<br />

experiences and achievements in manufacturing excellence, our people’s<br />

capabilities and the first internationally recognised four-car monorail<br />

made in Malaysia.<br />
