Student profile Q&AUCA FarnhamWhat made you decide to embark on a postgraduatecourse at UCA?The whole experience of my BA in 3D Design specialising inGlass at UCA was so rewarding, exciting and inspiring that Iwanted to further progress and develop within the sameenvironment that fostered and encouraged such learning.What most attracted you to studying here?As far as I am aware, there is not another University in the SouthEast that has the same variety of glass-making facilities thatUCA has. Couple this to excellent tutors and helpful and capabletechnicians not only within my own department but across theUniversity and it was an easy decision. Throughout myexperience at UCA I have always been encouraged to excel andthe attitude here is not only nurturing but cultivates success.What did you set out to achieve during your time studyinghere?I wanted to take the work that I had created as anundergraduate and push it to the next level and beyond whilecontinuing to develop and explore new directions for my art.Has the proximity to London been an advantage to you?Having other commitments, I am unable to locate away from myhome in South West London, so UCA’s proximity was essentialto me in this respect. Not only does it have good road links toLondon, public transport is also available with a good trainservice into Waterloo.What are your plans after graduation?To increase the facilities in my own studio and continue growingmy career as a successful glass designer and maker.
