Director<br />
He is currently Managing Partner of Praxxis, LLC and Director of <strong>Mercantil</strong> Commercebank<br />
Florida <strong>Banco</strong>rp, and <strong>Mercantil</strong> Commercebank. Served as Vice President of Citibank N.A.<br />
(1981-1995). Headed the Marketing organization of Citibank FSB in Chicago and spearheaded<br />
the bank’s thrust into the consumer markets of the U.S. Midwest. Organized Citibank’s<br />
Consumer Bank in Venezuela in 1989 and led the business to exceed all corporate profitability<br />
and performance benchmarks during his tenure. <strong>In</strong> 1995, he joined IBM Corporation as the<br />
executive in charge of the company’s relationships with Latin America’s largest banks. <strong>In</strong> 1998,<br />
he formed Southcross Associates LLC, a firm that eventually merged into Praxxis, LLC. Praxxis<br />
is a consulting organization that specializes in the financial services sector and advises clients<br />
in the United States, Latin America and Europe. Prior to his 25-year career in banking, he held<br />
senior positions in major U.S. advertising agencies. He majored in Economics in the University<br />
of Puerto Rico and completed multiple executive-level professional development programs at<br />
Citibank and IBM.<br />

Business Council (CEVEU). Director of <strong>In</strong>ternational Briquettes Holding (IBH), and Director<br />

Jose Antonio Villamil<br />
Director<br />
Received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Economics from Louisiana State<br />
University (LSU) in Baton Rouge. <strong>In</strong> 1991, upon the recommendation of the Graduate Faculty,<br />
Florida <strong>In</strong>ternational University awarded him a Doctor of Science Degree in Economics (Honoris<br />
Causa) for “outstanding contributions to the Nation in the formulation of Economic Policies.”<br />
He has served as a Presidential appointee in the capacity of U.S. Undersecretary of Commerce<br />
for Economic Affairs, and is the founder of a successful economic consulting practice, The<br />
Washington Economics Group, <strong>In</strong>c. (WEG). Since August 2008, he is the Dean of the School<br />
of Business of St. Thomas University in Miami while continuing to serve as Principal Advisor<br />
to the clients of WEG. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Governor’s Council of<br />
Economic Advisors of Florida, and during 1999-2000, he directed the Tourism, Trade, and<br />
Economic Development activities of the State in the Office of Governor Jeb Bush. Presently, he<br />
is Director of <strong>Mercantil</strong> Commercebank Florida <strong>Banco</strong>rp, and <strong>Mercantil</strong> Commercebank, the<br />
Spanish Broadcasting System (NASDAQ), Pan-American Life <strong>In</strong>surance Group (PALIG)<br />
and Enterprise Florida – the State’s principal economic development organization. Dr. Villamil<br />
is active in professional and community affairs. He is currently Chairman of the Economic Roundtable<br />
of the Beacon Council – Miami-Dade County’s official economic development organi-<br />
