I.T. is an essential skill for many
21st century job roles. There are
many exciting employment
opportunities available within the
industry too, from working for
global corporations to being a
self-employed sector professional –
the more you learn, the more
possibilities open up to you.
A fascinating and skilful profession
rooted in the future, the possibilities
for working within advanced
manufacturing, medical technology
and devices, programming and
graphics, for example, are endless.
You might even design new software
of your own and be the master of

BTEC CERTIFICATE
ENTRY LEVEL
THE COURSE
You will be introduced to the scope
of I.T. skills needed to progress to
further learning to develop knowledge
and skills.
Your learning will include:
• desktop publishing
• using the internet
• using presentation software
• using email
• using design and imaging software.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no specific requirements
but an interest in I.T. is required.
PROGRESSION
You may progress to a Level 1
qualification to expand your skills
and knowledge.

THE COURSE
This qualification will gives you a
broad, relevant and vocationally-based
introduction to the I.T. industry. You
can build credits and progress through
to the Award, Certificate and Diploma
qualification.
Your learning will include:
• using the internet
• using email
• using spreadsheets
• presentation software
• desktop publishing
• using mobile devices.
You will also study personal, social
and development units to support
your learning and general life such as
dealing with problems, managing your
own money and social relationships
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of Entry Level 3
or a number of GCSE examinations.
PROGRESSION
On successful completion of the
Diploma Level, you may progress to
the BTEC Diploma in I.T., Business or
other relevant courses.
