Have some old furniture that is loose, broken,
need of general repair? This hands-on course,
will have great tips and step by step
instruction on the best methods to repair your
damaged furniture. Basic woodworking,
upholstery or staining touch-up methods
required to repair furniture will be shown.
Students will be required to pay for any
additional materials used in class. Prior to the

UPHOLSTERY-INTRODUCTORY
A master craftsman will discuss and
demonstrate the basic steps of re-upholstering
furniture, introducing you to the tools/
materials, supplies required plus giving tips
on refurbishing your own furniture. For a
better understanding, a small hands-on
project will be completed in class. A kit will
be available from the instructor (approx.
32.00). It is highly recommended taking this
course before tackling a project of your own
or HC114.

UPHOLSTERY
This hands-on course, will allow you to
tackle a SMALL piece of furniture with the
expert guidance of a master upholsterer.
Discuss with the instructor your choice of
project to enable you to successfully
complete it in the time allotment. You will be
required to purchase a few basic tools.

UPHOLSTERY-TUFTING WORKSHOP
This workshop focuses on the area of “tufting”
for upholstery related projects. Areas to be
covered will be tufting designs and methods,
folded tufting, sewn tufting and fabric/foam
sizes to be used. Hands-on applications will be
completed in class. PREREQUISITE: HC364
is mandatory( if no other upholstery courses
have been taken) or have taken HC113,
HC114 or have related experience.

CHILDREN’S COGSWELL ROCKER
This is a classic style fully upholstered rocker,
but in child’s size suitable for children up to
the age of 8 years. In class, you will stain the
rocker base in your chosen stain colour and
then upholster with your choice of fabric.
Instructor will supply materials for the project.
($55.00) You supply 1 1/2 yards of fabric.

OTTOMAN COFFEE TABLE
Make you own coffee table sized ottoman
(36” x36”). This upholstered flat top ottoman
will be a very useful item in your family
room. You will learn staining techniques and
actually stain the decorative turned legs with
your chosen stain colours. This ottoman is
then upholstered and finished elegantly by a
row of decorative tacks along the bottom
edge. The instructor will supply a kit.

UPHOLSTERING A HEADBOARD
Upholstered headboards are all the rage
today! Learn how to design and upholster you
very own wall mounted headboard (
instructions to make a stand-alone will be
discussed). In class, cocmpletion of two
sample size headboards giving you a chance
to learn to upholster two different styles.
After that you are only limited by your
imagination. Materials fee will be $20.00

UPHOLSTERING A VALANCE BOX
Learn the steps on how to build and upholster
an attractive valance box giving a unique and
custom look to any window. For a better
understanding, 2 sample boxes 24 inches in
length will be completed in class to take home
for future reference. Various templates will be
supplied for you to choose from. Finishing
tips will be covered for a professional look.
You will be responsible to bring 2 metres of
fabric. A kit fee of $25.00 covers the extras
that are required to complete the projects.

QUILTING - BASIC INTRODUCTION
Quilting can be easy! Instructor, Jane
Webster, will give expert assistance to the
novice or anyone wanting to brush up on their
machine quilting skills. In this informationpacked
session, learn fabric and colour
selection, rotary cutting basics, battings and
finishing tips. To assist in completing
samples, a kit will be available at a fee of

QUILTING - TULIP PATTERN
Build up your quilting ability by using an
easy and fast piecing method instructed by

half square triangles and can be used in a

This is an excellent starting point for
completing a block sampler quilt or any other

SERGER COURSES
ALL ABOUT SERGERS
Want to gain a better understanding of your
serger? Get hands-on practice while learning
threading, tension adjustments, changing
stitch length and width, trouble shooting,
flatlocking basics, and rolled edges. Leslie
Morse will show you some basic decorative
serging techniques and show how to achieve a
professional look. You must supply the serger.

can be worn year round. Bring your serger to
create this full lined denim jacket. Lindsey
Lichty will also discuss various tricks and
techniques to further expand your serger
knowledge. New to the world of serging, no

truly sewer friendly, with minimum hand
