Have some old furniture that is loose, broken,<br />

need of general repair? This hands-on course,<br />

will have great tips and step by step<br />

instruction on the best methods to repair your<br />

damaged furniture. Basic woodworking,<br />

A master craftsman will discuss and<br />

demonstrate the basic steps of re-upholstering<br />

furniture, introducing you to the tools/<br />

materials, supplies required plus giving tips<br />

on refurbishing your own furniture. For a<br />

better understanding, a small hands-on<br />

project will be completed in class. A kit will<br />

be available from the instructor (approx.<br />

32.00). It is highly recommended taking this<br />

course before tackling a project of your own<br />

UPHOLSTERY-TUFTING WORKSHOP<br />

This workshop focuses on the area of “tufting”<br />

for upholstery related projects. Areas to be<br />

covered will be tufting designs and methods,<br />

folded tufting, sewn tufting and fabric/foam<br />

sizes to be used. Hands-on applications will be<br />

completed in class. PREREQUISITE: HC364<br />

is mandatory( if no other upholstery courses<br />

have been taken) or have taken HC113,<br />

HC114 or have related experience.<br />

CHILDREN’S COGSWELL ROCKER<br />

This is a classic style fully upholstered rocker,<br />

but in child’s size suitable for children up to<br />

the age of 8 years. In class, you will stain the<br />

rocker base in your chosen stain colour and<br />

then upholster with your choice of fabric.<br />

Instructor will supply materials for the project.<br />

OTTOMAN COFFEE TABLE<br />

Make you own coffee table sized ottoman<br />

(36” x36”). This upholstered flat top ottoman<br />

will be a very useful item in your family<br />

room. You will learn staining techniques and<br />

actually stain the decorative turned legs with<br />

your chosen stain colours. This ottoman is<br />

then upholstered and finished elegantly by a<br />

row of decorative tacks along the bottom<br />

edge. The instructor will supply a kit.<br />

Upholstered headboards are all the rage<br />

today! Learn how to design and upholster you<br />

very own wall mounted headboard (<br />

instructions to make a stand-alone will be<br />

discussed). In class, cocmpletion of two<br />

sample size headboards giving you a chance<br />

to learn to upholster two different styles.<br />

After that you are only limited by your<br />

UPHOLSTERING A VALANCE BOX<br />

Learn the steps on how to build and upholster<br />

an attractive valance box giving a unique and<br />

custom look to any window. For a better<br />

understanding, 2 sample boxes 24 inches in<br />

length will be completed in class to take home<br />

for future reference. Various templates will be<br />

supplied for you to choose from. Finishing<br />

tips will be covered for a professional look.<br />

You will be responsible to bring 2 metres of<br />

fabric. A kit fee of $25.00 covers the extras<br />

QUILTING - BASIC INTRODUCTION<br />

ALL ABOUT SERGERS<br />

Want to gain a better understanding of your<br />

serger? Get hands-on practice while learning<br />

threading, tension adjustments, changing<br />

stitch length and width, trouble shooting,<br />

flatlocking basics, and rolled edges. Leslie<br />

Morse will show you some basic decorative<br />

serging techniques and show how to achieve a<br />

professional look. You must supply the serger.<br />
